A few comments on the El Paso Manifesto written by white-supremacist Thanos wannabe

by John English

For those who want to read the El Paso manifesto for themselves, Drudge has a link to it.

Personally, I found him to be all over the map. He extols far-left, far-right, and can’t-even-spectrum-label-it views in the same paragraph sometimes, but it boils down to this.

He hates immigration, he sees the “invasion” of Latinos as being encouraged by the Democrats to increase their voting bloc so they can turn the US into a one-party country, but the Republicans are weak and pro-corporate, so a pox on both their houses. He also sounds like a white-supremacist Thanos sometimes. Some lowlights:

  • “it makes no sense to keep on letting millions of illegal or legal immigrants flood into the United States, and to keep the tens of millions that are already here. Invaders who also have close to the highest birthrate of all ethnicities in America”
  • “the next logical step is to decrease the number of people in America using resources. If we can get rid of enough people, then our way of life can become more sustainable.
  • “I can no longer bear the shame of inaction knowing that our founding fathers have endowed me with the rights needed to save our country from the brink destruction. Our European comrades don’t have the gun rights needed to repel the millions of invaders that plaque their country.”
  • “I can’t bring myself to kill my fellow Americans. Even the Americans that seem hell-bent on destroying our country. Even if they are shameless race mixers, massive polluters, haters of our collective values, etc.”
  • “I am against race mixing because it destroys genetic diversity and creates identity problems.”
  • “The best solution to this for now would be to divide America into a confederacy of territories with at least 1 territory for each race. This physical separation would nearly eliminate race mixing and improve social unity by granting each race self-determination within their respective territory(s). “
  • “My ideology has not changed for several years. My opinions on automation, immigration, and the rest predate Trump and his campaign for president… I know that the media will probably call me a white supremacist anyway and blame Trump’s rhetoric. The media is infamous for fake news.”

Here are some takeaways from this, and from the reaction to this story.

  • It’s really gross to try to cherry-pick excerpts from this for “it’s the other side’s fault” political points. By which I mean I’ve seen some say he’s an environmentalist, therefore, he’s a Left-Winger! End of story. Or he seems to hate the Democratic Party more than the GOP so he’s a Right-Winger! End of story. When you want to eradicate a race of people, you’re no longer a “wing.”
  • It is odd how he defends Donald Trump in his manifesto, as if he knows he’s about to commit this heinous act, but he doesn’t want the media to spin that he was inspired by Trump. His views on these things predate Trump. Okay, kid, but it sounds like you agree with Trump’s stance on immigration, right? And you’re using his terms like “invasion.” So yeah, that’s how the media works.
  • I hope this makes more anti-immigration folks change the way they debate these issues. Quit using terms like “invasion” and “anchor babies.”
  • This is a 21-year-old young man who had family, friends, peers, etc. People who knew his views, who heard him share them. His views on race had been warped by years by something. The white-nationalist terrorist underbelly in this nation might be small, but say there are only a few thousand that share his views. How many of them are already armed? How many of them will view it as their “patriotic duty” to kill more non-white people?
  • It’s not about video games.
  • It’s not about lack of prayer in schools.
  • It’s not about mental health. We never refer to Islamist terrorists as having “mental health” issues.
  • It’s not NOT about guns, but it’s mainly about white nationalist terrorism.
