Since 2013 there has been a lot of talk and public meetings about Congressman Rob Bishop’s Land Initiative. In rural Utah it has caused contention and mistrust as the government attempts to get the people to go along with designating more land to wilderness, conservation areas, and other special designations. This is all being done under the guise of protecting the environment and the archaeological history that litters the landscape in most of Utah.
Why a lands bill now when it has been tried before and failed? Is all the effort that is going into this land initiative really about protecting the land? After almost two years of research I can finally answer these questions. I have come to the conclusion that the lands bill is the smoke and mirrors covering up what is really behind all of this. Who knows what other backroom deals have been made to make this happen, but one of the key motivator appears to be the SITLA land exchange to create energy corridors or energy gateways.
The following video skims the top of the information that I have discovered during my research. I just hope that I was able to present this information in a manner that makes sense. If my theory is correct then both sides of this issue, conservative and environmentalist, stands to lose everything unless we can get past the smoke and mirrors and stop this from happening.
Take a few minutes and watch this video and then you decide, but share this information with everyone you know in Utah and the western states.
