The Salt City Throwdown Podcast, is the brainchild of Shon “Smitty” Harris and Adam “The Fish Guy” Andrews. Formed in late 2013, but in the planning session for a year before that, Smitty and The Fish Guy take Utah news, and events and pop culture politics and hash out their thoughts on it. Similar to programs like KSL’sThe Nightside Project” but in a longer form, where they hash out topics until they are resolved. The Throwdown in it’s short time has moved up in the world. Attracting attention by being able to book guests not normally known for their candor, and willingness to participate in interviews with the local media. Recent guests have include Clark Aposhian, Former Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, and others who have come on to give thoughts on topics and events.

The Salt City Throwdown contributes contents via the long form version of the podcast which is one and a half, to two and a half hours once a week, as well as exclusive daily updates for the Utah Politico Hub via “The Daily Dose”. Which is a daily 5-10 minute “quick cast” of current events in Utah Politics.

The Salt City Throwdown is available on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, Spreaker, and Their Website. You can also find them on twitter @SCThrowdown and Facebook.

Shon “Smitty” Harris, contributor to the Utah Politico Hub has been involved in the Utah political scene since he moved back to Utah in 2010. The son of ultra-conservative, freedom loving, god fearing military parents has lived all over the West Coast until the mountains of Utah came calling in 1998, and he moved to start what he refers to as “college 1.0”. Much to the chagrin of his parents, this is where he found his political identity. Since 1999, he has worked in the Information Technology field doing everything from help desk for inkjet printers, to IT Manager for an award winning Department of Defense Contractor. He currently lives in Salt Lake City, where he works full time at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business as a Systems Administrator. Since moving back to Utah, he has started “college 2.0” and currently is pursuing degrees in Political Science (with an emphasis in Law and Politics), and Information Systems. He also is the co-host/executive producer of the Salt City Throwdown Podcast with his heterosexual life partner Adam “The Fish Guy” Andrews. Exploring, and breaking down sports, news, and the pop culture of Utah’s political scene. Shon is also a big fan of the University of Utah Utes, world champion Boston Red Sox, as well as the world champion Seattle Seahawks.(Thats a lot of “world champions” in one bio)

Adam “The Fish Guy” Recording on the Salt City Throwdown Podcast, October 2013.

Adam “The Fish Guy” Andrews: makes up the other half of the Salt City Throwdown crew. A former aquarium service technician, (where the Fish Guy nickname comes from) Adam has long had a passion for humor, commentary, and the talk radio format. This lead to years of him “buying” into a great deal of the rhetoric of conservative talk radio. While being raised in a fairly liberal family, he now considers himself a “recovering neo-conservative” who feels that no one political party has “all of the answers”….

Some people may know Adam from his contributions, texts, and emails to several radio shows in Utah, primarily KSL’s The Nightside Project.

Adam currently works as a service technician for a home medical equipment company. He is a new father, and has changed a great deal of his political views based on the world he wants to see his child grow up in.

When Adam isn’t scheduling guests, writing or researching content for the show, or filming videos for the YouTube channel; he can probably be found with either a video game controller, ocarina, or comic book in his hands. He also is an avid listener of podcasts and radio!

He is also a fan of the San José Sharks (NHL Hockey team), Doctor Who, Star Wars, and other pop culture.
