In an interview with Utah Politico Hub Tuesday night, Neil Walter confirmed that he is running for Utah State Treasurer. Richard Ellis will resign from the office in November.
Walter ran for the Congress in 2010, losing the Republican nomination to Morgan Philpot. In addition to working as Chief Operating Officer and an owner of Brookings Holdings, a residential and commercial real estate company, Walter is a part-time/adjunct instructor at Dixie State University in finance and economics.
Walter holds a BS in finance from BYU, an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, and is a chartered financial analyst. Learn more about Walter on his blog.
The Utah Republican Party’s State Central Committee will meet in November to select three individuals to forward to Governor Gary Herbert for appointment to complete Ellis’ term.
