Reason #59 for Passing Legislation
It’s just really a fun project to partner with these kids to teach them about the legislative process. — Senator Aaron Osmond, on his proposal to declare the golden retriever dog breed as the official “state domestic animal. Osmond owns a Havanese poodle, and not a retriever.
Reason #1 for NOT Passing Legislation
“Cats rule and dogs drool,” said Erin Cutchen, president of Utah Cat Fanciers about Osmond’s proposed legislation. “But honestly, the Legislature probably has better things to do.”
Could be worse. Could be paint drying.

If you can’t beat them…
If the people of Utah — outside of the Democratic enclaves of Salt Lake and Summit counties — want one-party rule, why not give it to them? A major electoral race without a choice could be a sobering experience for some voters. And if it is not enough to spur more balanced districting, then at least it would be a more efficient use of campaign resources. Meanwhile, Democrats could move their candidates from these races to more competitive local elected offices, where their talents and dedication could make strong contributions. — Ray Diehl, about why he thinks Democrat’s should stop putting up candidates in races they can’t win in Utah.
If you do beat them…..
I'm sincerely apologize to my democratic colleagues in the #utleg for my "gloating" tweet yesterday. I truly enjoy working with them #utpol
