Donald Trump vs the Squad

Donald Trump saw “The Squad” getting all of the attention and wanted to involve himself somehow. Or maybe he saw too much attention being paid to his former friend Jeffrey Epstein’s child sex abuse case, or to the deplorable conditions in detention centers by the border, and he wanted a distraction. Whatever the motivation, it was a good political strategy to enter the fray with the “Dems in Disarray.” Unfortunately, he did it in a racist way. The Squad are to Nancy Pelosi what the Tea Party was to John…

But for Jason Chaffetz, would we be talking about potential Speaker Paul Ryan?

When Congressman Jason Chaffetz announced he was running for speaker, most pundits, myself included, opined that it was a long shot. Think something like a football kicker lining up for a field goal from sixty yards out, into the wind. In retrospect, maybe it’s because of that kick into the wind that we might win the game. But for Chaffetz, would we be talking about Congressman Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House? In the chaos that followed, the factions of the Republican Party in the House dissolved into intense internal…

An Early Look At Election 2016

I know that the paint is barely dry on Election 2014, but let us look ahead to some important dates to watch for in our mad dash to November 8, 2016.  Most dates are tentative. Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics…and, Now Lawsuits

My initial reaction to a congressional lawsuit of the president was negative.  To me it was just so much nonsense. With Speaker John Boehner and his pied piper followers come a high level of suspicion about motive.  However, when I watched the President’s rude, childish, and disrespectful response I acquiesced to give the whole thing another look-see.  I don’t think my mind has changed, but something has been solidified.

Democrats Really Want More Obama Impeachment Talks

The national Democrats want impeachment talks. They really want it. This is not because they’ve lost faith in Barack Obama and figure President Joe Biden would be better. They saw how impeachment increased Bill Clinton’s popularity and brought them gains in the 1998 midterm elections. Nate Silver recently examined this trend and found that MSNBC and the Democrats talk about impeachment much more than Fox News and the Republicans.  Who’s the most prominent Republican talking impeachment? Sarah Palin? Maybe that’ll help get more subscribers to her new channel, but if…
