I hope people are taking the time after this election to really examine what tolerance is. I hope that we are looking at just how tolerant we are instead of just blaming the other side for being intolerant. When I was a child I remember telling Polish-invention jokes. The Militarization of the Tolerance Police

Earlier this week I sent out a tweet highlighting the fact that somebody at BYU messed up and put cards celebrating same sex marriage out in the BYU Store. Similar to other mixups that have occurred at the University over the years (like the run on a vending machine selling caffeinated Coke last year), I found humor in the situation. Others didn’t, to the point that it actually hit the mainstream media.

The events surrounding Mozilla and their now former CEO Brenden Eich have been surreal. Within two short weeks, he went from CTO to CEO to resignation after a firestorm over his previously disclosed donation in favor of California’s Proposition 8. Despite being well-regarded throughout the company as inclusive and highly supportive of Mozilla’s progressive company culture, he was quickly branded as anti-gay and slammed with possibly every permutation of insult surrounding it.
