*Utah Treasurer David Damschen Appoints Chief Deputy Treasurer *
SALT LAKE CITY – June 2, 2016 –Utah State Treasurer David Damschen today
announced the appointment of Kirt Slaugh as Chief Deputy Treasurer. Slaugh
began service on May 18, 2016, and will oversee investments, banking
contracts and the office’s Unclaimed Property Division.
“Kirt has a passion for implementing money-saving efficiencies in treasury
and investment operations – which will help our office continue to save
taxpayer dollars,” said Treasurer Damschen. “His prior experience will
greatly add to the dynamic of our office and I look forward to working with
him to protect the interests of Utah taxpayers.”
For the past three and a half years, Slaugh was the National Healthcare
Treasury Team Leader at KeyBank where he led a team of client advisors and
analysts in consulting with hospitals and health clinics on revenue cycle
efficiency initiatives. Prior to joining KeyBank, Slaugh served eleven
years in Treasury at Intermountain Healthcare and most recently served as
Treasury Operations Manager. During his tenure, Slaugh lead several
value-creating initiatives for Intermountain including healthcare lockbox,
ePayables, and consolidating the treasury operations of several affiliated
foundations. He was also responsible for investing $400 million in
short-term investments and bond proceeds from Intermountain’s debt
Slaugh has also been an active member of the Utah Association for Financial
Professionals where he has served in several leadership positions including
President in 2006. He has also served as a member of the Utah Money
Management Council since 2013 and as the organization’s Chair since 2015.

Utah and build on the tradition of excellence in the Utah State Treasurer’s
Office,” said Chief Deputy Slaugh.
Slaugh lives in Stansbury Park with his wife, Tammy, and five boys. He
enjoys taking advantage of Utah’s mountains and wilderness by fishing,
mountain biking, and hiking as much as possible.
